Why I Use Lavendar Essential Oil

I LOVE Lavender essential oil. However, I'm really picky about which lavender essential oil I use.  My personal favorites the one doTERRA has.  I think the scent is a personal preference.  Some lavender essential oil smells kind of icky to me, and others smell amazing.   You just have to smell them to see which one you like the best.  Just remember to not discard lavender if you've only sniffed it once or twice, there are so many varieties you just need to keep sniffing until you find the one you like.  A word of caution here:  I wouldn't purchase essential oils at the grocery store.  You need to be mindful of where your essential oil is coming from and what was used to make it. You want to find pure essential oils and not synthetic ones.  

I use lavender in quite a few ways.  

  • Add it to coconut oil and use it on my face after I wash it as a moisturizer.  
  • Use a room spray to spritz around my bed at night before I go to bed.
  • Apply on bug bites, cuts, and scrapes. 
  • I also use it with my doggie who has skin issues, I add it to coconut oil and apply it to the area that is irritated.  It works wonders!  Be careful about using essential oils on animals (always dilute with a carrier oil), DO NOT use essential oils on cats and don't diffuse essential oils in an enclosed space where the cat cannot get away.
  • Apply lavender essential oil to my chest, wrists and feet when I need a stress reliever.
  • Add it to my bath water with epsom salts.

Lavender has a long history of use in natural remedies and as a natural scent and perfume. It is is also used to help you relax so you can fall asleep. Lavender is sometimes used by those with insomnia as a natural alternative to drugs.
